Tobacco Education Project
Reducing the risk of secondhand smoke, our Tobacco Education Project is funded by the Wisconsin Tobacco Control Board
through the Wisconsin United Coalition.
Four workshops targeted our Southeast Asian adults, youth and children. Four hundred forty six peopled attended while
Marathon County Health Department presented information on nicotine affecting the human body. The Hmong Women's
Circle Coordinator, Youth Coordinator, Job Developer, and the Job Center Interpreter worked together to bring these
workshops to our community.
A tobacco survey was conducted resulting in a very significant number of Southeast Asians in Wausau using tobacco.
Targeting our youth population by bringing awareness and increased education is our main focus.
